Alberto Candido Back

I’m a designer, a developer and a woodworker currently based between Milan and Amsterdam. Being educated both as a communication designer and as a computer scientist I’ve always had an eye for designing meaningful artefacts while taking into account all the technical implications provided by the digital media.

My approach is intrinsically broad and cross-disciplinary, going throughout research, prototype, code, execute and deliver, where fine-tuning small details is important as much as questioning and understanding the necessities and the reasons of the project itself. In this sense I cultivate a strong interest in both material and digital culture: such as working with printed matters and physically prototyping, while at the same time exploring the creative possibilities of programming languages or tinkering with boards and sensors. I'm also interested in the possibilities of design not just as a problem-solving tool but as a potential intellectual and cultural catalyst.
